Cold-weather drinks are getting bolder in Cairo. RAF Coffee has launched a Spicy Hot Chocolate, a twist on the winter favourite that pairs chocolatey sweetness with chilli. If your idea of a cosy cup usually stops at marshmallows, this one asks you to think a little differently.

The drink is called, quite simply, the Spicy Hot Chocolate. It keeps the cocoa base most of us reach for on a cooler evening and adds chilli to the cup, so the sweetness comes with a bit of heat attached. The brand announced the launch on 6 November 2026.
Where To Try It
RAF Coffee says the drink is available at all of its branches across Cairo. If you’re in the Egyptian capital and curious about how chocolate and chilli behave together in a mug, you won’t need to travel far to find out.
Why Chilli And Chocolate Make Sense
The pairing is older than it sounds. Drinks made from cacao in Mesoamerica were traditionally flavoured with spices, chilli among them, long before sweetened hot chocolate became a fixture in Europe. Mexican-style hot chocolate with a touch of chilli is still a familiar order today. The logic is simple: sweetness softens heat, while cocoa’s slight bitterness gives the spice something to sit against. It’s the same balance that keeps chilli-laced truffles and dark chocolate with a hint of heat popular with dessert fans.
Not RAF Coffee’s First Chocolate Moment
Hot chocolate isn’t new territory for the brand. It has previously teamed up with Maison Choc on a limited-edition Hot Chocolate Kit, which came with two hot cocoa bombs, marshmallows and an exclusive RAF mug. The new Spicy Hot Chocolate takes a different route, skipping the toppings and playing with flavour instead.

FAQs
Why do people put chilli in hot chocolate?
Chilli has been paired with cacao for centuries, going back to Mesoamerican cacao drinks. The sweetness softens the heat, and the cocoa’s bitterness gives the spice a counterpoint.
Is it available in the UAE or other GCC countries?
The announcement covers Cairo branches only. No launch in the UAE or elsewhere in the GCC has been announced.
