Two Men Arrested In Tamil Nadu For Selling Crow Meat To Chicken Stalls

Two men have been arrested in Rameshwaram for killing 150 crows and selling the meat at a chicken stall. The cliche ‘Kaka Biryani’ also known as crow meat, is very dominating right now in Tamil Nadu.  If you are a cinematic buff, then 2004  Madhavan starring movie Run along with Tamil comedian Vivek supports it. There is a scene where Vivek who essays the character of Ganesh pauses by a street joint to gorge on a plate of this unique Biryani.  It was called as the ‘₹5 ki Biryani’. The actor won accolades and was also nominated for the best acting in a comedy role. This was in Screen Weekly Awards. We hope you don’t feel disgusted after seeing a plate of Biryani now. Hilarious content makes news as ‘Quoth The Raven Nevermore’.

What’s In It?

The incident came to light after the devotees at a local temple saw that the crows were breathing their last after being fed with rice. An investigation further highlighted the fact that the poachers gave the crows alcohol. This was done, and later the flesh was sold to chicken stalls. The men used this trick to avoid suspicion on them. The chicken and crow meat were mixed and then sold on the roadside joints.

What’s More?

This is not the first time such an absurd incident has occurred. In 2016 Chennai Police and animal right activists found that pet cats were assassinated and used in biryanis. Street dogs have also been killed and their meat has been used as a substitute for chicken meat.  In 2018, the Food Safety Department in Chennai found more than 1000 kgs of rotting meat being taken on a train to Jodhpur. Longtails on the carcasses were noticed.  With crows, street dogs and pet cats being killed and used as chicken meat at street stalls, being a cannibal is all that is left for now.
