UAE-made Covid Vaccine ‘Hayat Vax’ Begins Production In The Country

The UAE began a mass vaccination program in December 2020, and since then, the nation is way ahead on the vaccine curve. After inoculating more than 7-million people, UAE is set to produce the Covid-19 vaccine called Hayat-Vax in the country. Read on to know more about this UAE-made vaccine.

The Production Of Hayat-Vax Has Already Begun With Pharma Firm Julphar

Hayat – means life in Arabic. Hayat is the covid-19 vaccine in the region to be manufactured by a newly formed joint venture between Abu Dhabi’s G42 and Sinopharm. In a statement, G42 revealed that the joint venture has already started producing the Hayat-Vax with its partner- Ras Al Khaimah-based pharma firm Julphar.

For the same, one-of-its-kind research and development hub for life sciences, biotechnology, and vaccine production is set up at Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad). The new vaccine plant will be functional by year-end. It will have a production capacity of 200 million doses per annum across three filling lines and five automated packaging lines.

Speaking about the Hayat-Vax and this new venture with UAE, Peng Xiao, CEO of G42, said to a leading daily,

“The launch of the vaccine manufacturing capabilities in the UAE is a momentous step in the fight against Covid-19. We are grateful to the shared vision of UAE and China, their true partnership and collaboration to make this a reality. This initiative in the UAE is a strategic advancement to future-proof the population health of our nations. Our joint venture is also actively looking to bring our capabilities to new markets around the world.”

Hayat-Vax, the first-ever UAE-made Vaccine would support the vaccination campaign, which is active across 205 medical centres in the country.
