Publishing House Donates 1,000 Free Books To Corona Isolation Wards In Kashmir

As Alberto Manguel had aptly said, in moments of darkness we return to books. And that’s why the Srinagar-based publishing house, Gulshan Books, has donated 1,000 books to the students quarantined in different centres of the valley due to the COVID-19 wave. The bookstore chain has already handed over the cartons to the Jammu and Kashmir administration. They anticipate that the good-reads will help the students ease their woes during these gloomy times.

Enlightenment Amid Epidemic

Gulshan Books is one of the leading publishing houses in Kashmir and is renowned for its wide assortment of books on varied subjects. It has a pretty, vintage-themed bookstore-cum-cafe at the heart of Dal Lake in Nehru Park that also got featured in the Limca Book of Records 2018.

Recently, various students of Kashmir had returned to their homeland from countries like Iran, Bangladesh and others. The books given to them will keep them occupied at their quarantine homes. The distributed reads are a mix of fiction, non-fiction and political books that can appeal to the young minds. They include famous books like Diary of a Young Girl, Gone with the Wind, and critically acclaimed works of Daniel Steel and Sidney Sheldon.
