Uttarakhand To Now Offer Free Of Cost Adventure Sports Training At Tehri Lake

Adventure enthusiasts! Now you can get training on land, water and air adventure sports right amid the mountains by the crystal clear lake, that too absolutely free of cost. Yes, you heard that right. The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) and Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish training centres for adventure sports activities at Rajiv Gandhi Adventure Sports Academy situated at Tehri Lake. According to the MoU, ITBP is going to bear all the expenses of arrangements, operations and training. Sounds amazing? Read on to know the deets.

ITBP To Bear All Expenses Of Adventure Sports Training Of Over 200 Candidates

UTDB and ITBP have signed an MoU to construct training centres like aero base adventure centre, land base adventure centre and water base adventure centre at Tehri Lake’s Rajiv Gandhi Adventure Sports Academy. As per the MoU, the state government or tourism department will select over 200 candidates to train them in adventure activities. ITBP will bear all the expenses of arrangements, operations and training in the academy. Meanwhile, Gulmarg has also planned to promote adventure tourism by introducing skiing courses.

Training To Be Provided On Kayaking, Sailing, Parasailing, Paragliding And More

Prashant Kumar Arya, UTDB Director and Gambhir Singh Chauhan, ITBP DIG signed the MoU in the presence of ITBP IG, Nilaabh Kishore. The authorities have taken up this initiative to boost tourism in Uttarakhand and across Tehri Lake. Reportedly, the institute will provide training on canoeing, kayaking, sailing, rowing, parasailing, paragliding and water rescue.

The Initiative Is To Promote Adventure Activities In Tehri Lake

ITBP will utilize the training infrastructure to impart knowhow all kinds of sports activities, adhering to the guidelines underlined by the state. As per reports, Dilip Jawalkar, Secretary, Uttarakhand Tourism, said, “Signing of the aforementioned Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is the latest development in the state’s adventure tourism sector and will add to the post-pandemic revival process of the same. This MoU is one of our initiatives to promote adventure activities in Tehri Lake. We hope that through this initiative, adventure tourism in Uttarakhand will get a new direction.”
