Venkatesh Daggubati Considers Himself A Businessman And Then An Actor
While on the topic of the film industry and how Venkatesh entered the showbiz, we learnt that he never intended to be an actor. It was by accident that he landed in the film industry. He revealed that one fine day, one of the actors in his dad’s film had a busy schedule and could not make it to the shooting.
His filmmaker dad, D. Ramanaidu, decided to give Venkatesh a chance. D. Ramanaidu talked to director Raghavendra Rao about the same and here we are, watching him on the big screens for almost 38 years! He said that after some training, his first film, Kaliyuga Pandavulu, was released in 1986. The film was an instant hit with the audience and so were his acting skills.
He said, “You know everything falls into place. You are just being disciplined and learning new things. And then you have a lot of directors with good scripts and then slowly everything fell into place after that.” He continued that the film industry is almost like a business venture for him, as he comes from a business background.
Hence, making a good film and releasing it to make a reasonable amount of money, paying back to the ones who worked hard for it and leaving the audience satisfied is his ultimate goal. He summed it up by saying, “I am not here for the glamour or fame. I was never attracted to that side of the entertainment business. For me, it is just work.”

What Did He Do Before Acting?
Venkatesh shared with us that he studied MBA in the USA and returned to India hoping to run a successful business. He worked with a company called, McCormick, known for selling spices. Alas, it didn’t work out as he had hoped. That was when he got the opportunity to try his hand at acting. We have to start believing more in the quote, “When one door closes, another one opens!”
