Vietnam Has The World’s First 24-Carat Gold Plated Hotel
The Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake Hotel is owned by Hoa Binh Group and managed by U.S.-based Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Inc. It stands in stark contrast to its surrounding weather-worn Soviet-era buildings. The 5-star hotel in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi features gold plated interiors and exteriors. It prides itself to be the world’s first 24-carat gold plated hotel and took 11 years to build this. This hotel is located at the Giang Vo Lake in the centre of Hanoi. A village in Kerala gave gold and even refrigerators to people for staying indoors amid the lockdown.
The Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake Hotel hopes to attract guests with intimately expensive tastes through its gold plated bathtubs, toilets and basins all housed behind a massive golden exterior. And it puts an extra effort to attract guests back to Vietnam where the tourism sector slowly reopens after a three-month-long coronavirus lockdown.

Facilities Here Include Gold Plated Infinity Pool, Toilet, Bathtub & Even Cutlery
The hotel facilities here include a 24-carat gold tiled infinity pool on the rooftop. The guest rooms and bathrooms are laced with yellow metal. And that’s just the beginning. Even the cutlery, cups, showerheads and toilet seats are made of gold.
The 24-storey hotel in downtown Hanoi cost a whopping $200 million ( 20 crores) for its construction. Guests must shell out an amount starting from $250 (₹18,716) a night to stay at this hotel. The price lies in the same price bracket as a rival luxury accommodation in Hanoi. In India, a plethora of luxury hotels are offering great deals as the lockdown eases.

One Tonne Of Gold Used To Make This Hotel
Nguyen Huu Duong, a majority owner and chairman of Hoa Binh Group states to Reuters “At the moment, there is no other hotel like this in the world.” He informs that an estimated amount of a tonne of gold was used to cover the property. Duong is a Vietnam War veteran and former cyclo taxi, driver. And he made his fortune in construction and property. Duong further added that this 24-carat gold plated hotel wants ordinary people to even the super rich to check-in both physically and through social media.
The Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake Hotel achieved the relatively modest construction price tag as they sourced the gold plating locally. This significantly reduced costs. Duong states “Our group has a factory that can do gold-plated stuff, so the cost for our equipment and furniture here is quite cheap.” He further reveals that next year, they will surely make money. To combat food problems during the coronavirus lockdown, a Vietnamese entrepreneur invented a Rice ATM.
Guests Feel Luxurious Staying At This Gold-Plated Hotel
Guests to this hotel are quite impressed by this gold-pated luxurious hotel in Hanoi. Phillip Park, a South Korean guest reveals “When I arrived here… I felt like a king, you know, the Pharaoh… the king of Egypt.” Whether it’s for luxury or for backpacking, there are always amazing reasons to visit Vietnam.
Another guest, Luong Van Thuan states to media houses “I really enjoyed the luxury atmosphere.” The Vietnamese guest states that he felt like his status was raised after arriving at this hotel.
