Gold, the symbol of power and wealth have many admirers and now Shankar Kurade, a resident of Pimpri-Chinchwad of Pune district, has made his name shine like gold by getting himself a gold mask worth ₹2.89 lakhs. The gold mask wearer admits that he isn’t sure if the mask is effective or not. But since its a thin mask with minute holes it’s easy for him to breathe. When it comes to innovative face masks, a scuba diving group recycled ocean plastics into face masks.

Pune Resident Gets Gold Face Mask Worth ₹2.89 Lakhs

Shankar Jurade, a resident of Pimpri-Chinchwad of Pune district, got himself a mask made of gold which cost him a total of ₹2.89 lakhs. The total COVID-19 cases in Pimpri Chinchwad rose to 3,284 on July 1, 2020. The death toll due to COVID-19 in Pimpri Chinchwad is 47. Thus protection is of paramount importance and that is why, when Shankar Kurade was asked by news agency ANI about the usefulness of the mask, he stated, “It’s a thin mask with minute holes so that there’s no difficulty in breathing. I’m not sure whether this mask will be effective.” Pune recently reopened its salons for the public and this makes it even more essential to maintain social distancing and wear proper masks.

Coronavirus Mortality Rate Of Pune Is Lesser Than That Of Entire Maharashtra And Even India

According to an Indian Express report, the mortality rate lower than that of Pune, state and nation. “Since April, the mortality rate has hovered between 1.4 per cent and 1.8 per cent, much below the state’s average mortality rate of 4.72 per cent and the national average of 3.13 per cent. It is also lower than neighbouring Pune city’s mortality rate of 3.93 per cent,” the report added. This means very few people from Pune have died due to coronavirus as compared to Maharashtra and even India.
