Our Sunday Brunch this time was a little different as our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani hosted a potluck like never before, joined by the dynamic cast of Hisaab Barabar—R. Madhavan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Kirti Kulhari. The conversation flowed as freely as the indulgent desserts, with the trio diving into everything from comfort foods and quirky food combinations to some unexpected financial confessions.
The Cast of Hisaab Barabar Plays NHIE with Kamiya Jani
In a lively conversation with Kamiya Jani, the cast of Hisaab Barabar—Maddy, Neil, and Kirti—dove into candid financial confessions over a spread of indulgent desserts. The trio tackled a game of Never Have I Ever, revealing stories of extravagant purchases, unexpected borrowing, and regrettable loans. When asked if they had ever bought something ridiculously expensive just to impress someone, Maddy admitted saying, “If I really like something and the shopkeeper looks at me like I can’t afford it, just to prove them wrong, I’ll take three of it.”
The discussion took a reflective turn when the cast was asked if they had ever given money to someone and regretted it. This is where one of the most striking moments came when Neil shared a personal regret: “Once, one of my friends was almost in rehab—struggling with alcohol and going through a massive financial crisis. So, I lent him some money, and I realised that he just went back to drinking. That was a big regret.”
On a lighter note, when asked about their next big splurge if given ₹1 crore—Kirti dreams of spending on making a film, Neil fancies buying gold, and Maddy eyes an exciting start-up. The lighthearted yet introspective chat revealed the highs and lows of financial choices, proving that money matters are never just black and white.
Maddy, Neil, and Kirti also opened up about their biggest splurges and financial journeys. Reflecting on his most expensive possession, Maddy quipped, “Till date? Oh, I already answered that, and it became a big controversy.” He clarified that while reports made it seem like he owned a massive 75-foot luxury yacht, it was actually just a small boat, docked in Dubai. While Kirti talked about her financial independence and admitted that before COVID-19, she had little interest in managing her money. “I never kept money with me—I gave everything to my dad. I didn’t even know about my investments or mutual funds.” But the pandemic changed her outlook, leading her to take control of her finances.
