They say one’s life and death are not in our hands. Perhaps it must be true for we cannot ever determine when someone will be born or will leave us forever. But it is always a beautiful news when someone new joins us. This is one such story, but the twist here is that the baby was born in mid-flight! A woman gave birth to a baby boy mid-air on an IndiGo flight travelling from Delhi to Bangalore on October 7. Read on to know more about this heartwarming story.

IndiGo Flight From Delhi To Bangalore Welcomes Baby Boy Born Mid-Air

A woman gave birth to a baby boy aboard an IndiGo flight travelling from Delhi to Bangalore on October 7, evening. The flight 6E 122 Delhi – BLR landed in Bangalore at 7:40 pm and thanks to the presence of a doctor and the efficiency of the staff present, the birth happened smoothly.

The cabin crew set up a mini-hospital and called for help from fellow passengers. An answering call from a gynaecologist, Dr Shailaja Vallabhani guided the mother through a safe delivery. The resounding cry of a healthy baby sent a way of happiness through the cabin.  IndiGo issued a statement saying that both the mother and the child are healthy and the flight landed at the Bangalore airport at 7:40 PM. The statement read that, “We confirm that a baby boy was delivered prematurely on flight 6E 122 from Delhi to Bangalore. There are no further details available.”

IndiGo Staff & Crew Celebrated This Moment With Applause And Welcome Posters At Bangalore Airport

IndiGo added, “We just got information that a baby boy was born in our flight en route 6E 122 Delhi – BLR. Flight landing at 19:40. All operations normal. Mother and child are healthy. Congratulations to all. Kudos to your training Team First Aid” The baby boy and the mother received a warm welcome by the airline crew and the ground staff on landing at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore. The airport staff took the mother to an ambulance in a wheelchair. And the crew held posters reading ‘Welcome to Namma Bengaluru’ and applauded.

The cabin crew headed by Shradha Chauhan and her team, Anupriya, Tripti and Ankita received appreciation for their incredible presence of mind and speedy response. Their lightning-fast action indeed speaks volumes about the rigorous training the cabin crew receives to deal with such surprising moments.
