Alauda Mk3 is the world’s first electric flying race car and we aren’t even kidding ourselves. This electric beauty is a powertrain that is capable of the same power output as an Audi SQ7. This invention by Alauda Aeronautics will participate in the Airspeed EXA series of unmanned flying car races. The Alauda Aeronautics is an Australian company that is promising the world a flying race-car capable of racing tracks and in the air. The Alauda Mk3 was first introduced in February 2021 and now, it just made its first flight.

Alauda Mk3 Draws Inspiration From Racing Cars In The 1950s And 1960s

Now the test location is an undisclosed site in the South Australian desert under observation by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). The Alauda Mk3 flying car precedes the Airspeeder EXA series of three unmanned flying car races scheduled to take place globally in 2021. This event will help take motorsports to the skies when the full-scale electric flying racing series will commence later in 2021. This beast of engineering marvel is remotely controlled through a simulator that mimics the dynamics and ergonomics of the Mk3 cockpit environment. The parent company hopes that the Airspeeder EXA will help develop pilot skills as well.

Going back to the design board, the Alauda Mk3 draws inspiration from the racing cars of the 1950s and 1960s. this vehicle is capable of electric vertical take-off and landing and weighs only 130 kg unladen and comes with a carrying capacity of up to 80 kg. Now, going to its specifics, the Alauda Mk3 is fully electric-powered capable of churning out 429 hp of power output. It can accelerate 0-100 kmph in 2.8 seconds and climb up to 1,640 feet in the air. Meanwhile, when you visit Dubai, you can get a first-hand experience of flying your own plane.
