Zomato UPI Is Launching Soon, Here’s How To Activate It & All You Need To Know About It

Zomato, the popular food delivery application will soon roll out a new feature that will make ordering food online significantly easier than it was before. Most people still use the Cash-on-Delivery option when ordering food. If they do choose online payment, it’s through third-party payment apps like GPay, PhonePe, etc. In order to tackle this, Zomato is launching a Unified Payments Interface or UPI in the app itself. Here’s what you need to know about it.

Zomato will soon launch a UPI feature in the app which will allow users to make payments for their food orders directly from the app itself. This will preclude the necessity of the app redirecting the user to a third-party payment application.

By doing this, the entire process of purchasing food online will be consolidated into just one application. It has partnered with ICICI Bank and is also planning on partnering with other banks soon. So far, the feature is only available to a few select users, since it is only in its pilot phase and may still be working out some kinks and errors.

Perhaps, the biggest the major selling point of the feature is that it doesn’t require the user to do a Know-Your-Customer/Client or KYC procedure. The user can simply activate the feature, link their bank account and be good to go.

To activate the feature, follow these steps: –

  • Make sure your app is up to date.
  • Click on the ‘Profile’ section of the Zomato App.
  • Scroll down till you see the ‘Activate Zomato UPI’ option and click on it.
  • Set your Zomato UPI ID.
  • Select your mobile number.
  • Link your bank account to the app.
  • Make the payment.

Activating this feature will reduce the dependency on third-party payment applications. The feature may be available to all users in a few months.
