42 Tourists Stranded At Telangana’s Muthyala Dhara Falls; Rescue Operations Underway

Monsoons are a risky time to travel anywhere close to a flowing stream. Usually, waterfalls, rivers, and streams are swelled with rain and can make for a dangerous spot. However, tourists can’t help going to such locations because the monsoon is the time when they can enjoy these natural water bodies. In an unfortunate incident recently, many tourists were stranded at Telangana’s Muthyala Dhara Falls. Here are all the details about this incident.

This particular waterfall is quite famous because it offers tourists unimpeded access to its natural environment. However, recently, around 40 tourists have been left stranded at the Muthyala Dhara Falls. Many reports suggest that there might be more with some stating that the number is around 80.

But we know that there are at least 42 people stuck. The Muthyala Dhara Falls is located in the Mulugu district of the Indian state of Telangana. Gaush Alam, the Mulugu Superintendent of Police stated that rescue operations are underway.

He also stated that both, the State or District Disaster Response Force as well as the National Disaster Response Force or the NDRF have been deployed. He said that he spoke to the stranded people over the phone and asked them to stay as far away from the water as possible.

Tourists Will Be Saved By Morning

The SP advised that the people should stand on high ground and stay away from the stream of water. He also advised them to save the batteries of their mobile phones. According to ANI, the SP said that the stranded tourists will be saved by morning. Food items and other rescue equipment are also being sent their way so they were advised to not lose courage and hope.

Many other states are also restricting access to waterfalls in their state in order to prevent such circumstances. Many waterfalls in Goa are now off-limits as tourists are not allowed there. Even the Madhe Ghat Waterfall in Pune has been restricted for the season.
