With the monsoons ongoing, one of the many things that adventurers would love to do is trek. A monsoon trek is a great opportunity for nature lovers to witness the rich greens, refresh and rejuvenate oneself. There is nothing better than trekking and finding unexplored places, sighting pretty landscapes and most of all, enjoying the rains. The monsoon trek is usually meant for true rain lovers. However, despite all the gloriousness of a trek, there are some precautions you need to take for your safety. Read on to know what they are!

Monsoon Trek – Precautions You Must Undertake

The weather is lovely, with no or little sun. However, there are some precautions you must undertake. Try going on a trek in a group. Since you’ll be moving and walking during the rain seasons across various kinds of terrain, it is safer to walk in a group. You will always have someone looking out for you, even if something untoward takes place.

Research Before You Head Out To The Location

It is best you research about the location. You do not want to be lost in the area. And, make sure you check the weather forecast too. Trekking during light drizzle is fine, but if there are chances of heavy to very heavy rainfall, then you must give your trekking plans a second thought.

Stick To The Trekking Pathway

Although, you might feel the tendency to explore more, but it is best you stick to the trek path and do not deviate. Stick to your group and do not wander much. Certain trekking locations during monsoon become a little risky in terms of safety.

Carry First Aid & Necessary Gear

The above is recommended for any kind of trek. You must have a first aid kit ready with you all the time, especially if you are trekking through risky terrains. Make sure you carry the required tools as well – like a knife, your camping gear, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and anything that can’t do without.

Carry Things Mindfully

Do not carry a lot of things during your trek. Yes, the necessary ones like umbrella, raincoat and extra protection for your electronics is a must. But make sure to stick to the essentials only. Too many things to carry might not be very pleasing while you are trekking.

Wear And Carry The Right Kind Of Clothes

Do not wear jeans or non-cottony clothes during your monsoon trek. It is best you carry very minimal clothes, the right shoes – yes investing in the right pair of trekking shoes is very important. If you wear jeans, and sort of drench it, then drying it is going to be a task. So stick to light clothes.

Carry Light Snacks

Do not carry heavy food while on a trekking. You do not want to feel heavy after food. Rather carry light snacks, energy bars, dry fruits, biscuits and most importantly, your bottle of water.
