5 Ways To Be An Eco-Friendly Traveller

As tourism is booming in India and abroad, the only thing everyone’s worried about is waste disposal and pollution. The better the tourism factor in a country, the more the littering but you can still manage to be an eco-friendly traveller! Here are 5 ways to protect the environment even while travelling –

1. Use Paper Bags

As most of us know, in most areas of India plastic has been banned. But that’s not the case with everywhere else. Take the first step towards saving the environment by switching to paper bags instead of plastic. You could even go for cloth bags that are reusable after wash!

2. Help Out Where You Travel

If you’re really into saving the environment, reach out to a few NGOs to the location you’re travelling and help with volunteering.

3. Avoid Hotel Stays

If you’re going for the local experience, why not stay with a local family? Choose a home stay instead of a hotel stay and get absorbed more into the culture around the area. Moreover, you will be able to understand the water, electricity and other restrictions the locals face.

4. Purchase Local Goods

Here’s another way to help the environment and the people – instead of shopping at supermarkets, visit the local markets and purchase goods from there. Whether we’re talking about groceries, accessories, handicrafts etc.

5. Best One Yet – Don’t Hail A Cab, Walk

We’re all talking about how much pollution these vehicles on the road cause. Why not walk instead of hailing a cab? That way you can spend more time experiencing the local culture and avoid unnecessary pollution as well.
