A Huge Safari Park With Over 50,000 Animals Is Coming To Sharjah This Year

Sharjah is all set to get a brand new safari park! The new park will be located within the Al Bridi Reserve in the city of Al Dhaid. Sprawling an area of 16 square kilometres, this will be the largest safari park outside Africa. Once open, the park will be home to over 50,000 animals. In April 2021, the park received 121 different types of mammals, reptiles, and birds, some of which have already been released to create the safari atmosphere. Read on for more details.

What To Expect At Sharjah Safari Park?

Apart from being home to over 50,000 animals, the Sharjah Safari will also include cages for birds, and a section for giraffes. The park will also have a huge natural lake, restaurants, cafes, conference hall, safari visitors camp and more. The Safari embodies a real African nature reserve, and offers visitors the chance to see these animals right here in Sharjah. The Sharjah Safari is a project which aims to preserve animals which are on the verge of extinction.

In addition, Al Bridi Reserve extends over an area of about 18.5 square kilometres and will boast an abundance of trees that will serve as a habitat for animals and also provide an ideal environment for organisms. Besides, the Sharjah safari will also have Samar trees, which are an essential food source for camels and goats in desert and semi-arid regions, due to the absence of other sources. The Samar trees flowers provide nectar to bees, which produce local honey.

Speaking about the new project, Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah, said, “The Sharjah Safari is the largest safari project in the world outside Africa, due to the presence of African animals that represent all species. The Safari is the most important ecotourism destination in the region. “
