Once again we woke up to the horrible news of a train accident. This time, a scary accident of train collision took place in Andhra Pradesh on October 29, 2023. Two passenger trains collided in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh. It was about 7 PM when the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger Special train rammed the Visakhapatnam-Palasa Passenger Express.

Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, Arun Bhishokarma (@tweetwith_arun) shared some details about the train collision.

  • The terrifying accident occurred after the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger Special train rammed the other train, according to a report by the Indian Express.
  • It was about 7 PM on Sunday when the first train hit the other which later became the cause of Visakhapatnam-Palasa Passenger Express derailing some of its coaches. 4 coaches of the train derailed on the next track.
  • The trains collided and came across this frightening accident between the Kantakapalle railway station and Alamanda railway station in Andhra Pradesh.
  • The electric lines were badly damaged leading to no electricity in the accident spot.
  • The DRM shared that local police, teams of the National Disaster Response Force, and people from revenue authorities visited the place right after the accident to rescue and save the people trapped there, according to a report by the Hindustan Times.
  • The rescue operations took a long time. Teams of several departments were seen working relentlessly even on Monday morning.

Multiple pictures and clips of the train collision in Andhra Pradesh are going viral on social media platforms. From the pictures and videos, it can be seen that the rammed coaches are in dilapidated condition with darkness surrounding from all around.

Aftermath of The Train Accident:

The two trains that met with the accident in the Vizianagaram district had 14 coaches in each train, shared the railway officials. The Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger Special train collided with the Visakhapatnam-Palasa Passenger Express from the rear and derailed 4 coaches of the second train. About 13 passengers have already lost their lives in this alarming accident. More than 50 passengers faced injuries during the accident on Sunday night.

Following the accident, the scheduled plans of many trains have been changed. Some have been cancelled while some trains’ routes have been diverted. About 33 trains are cancelled as of now, according to a report by The Times of India. The railways have also changed the timing for 6 trains. Routes of 24 trains have been diverted as well.

With a sudden increase in the news of train accidents, Netizens are now a bit concerned about train journeys. Many are pointing out how many train accidents have been reported in the last few months.
