On May 26 and 27, several flights between the UAE and India faced cancellations. This disruption follows Kolkata Airport Authority’s decision to halt all flight operations for 21 hours, starting at midnight on May 26 until 9 AM on May 27. The suspension is due to Cyclone Remal making landfall.
Dubai Flights Impacted

Emirates and flydubai flights between Dubai and Kolkata also faced disruptions. An Emirates spokesperson confirmed that flights EK 572/573 on May 26 and EK 570/571 on May 27 were cancelled. Flydubai reported delays for flights FZ 461/462, scheduled to operate on May 27 instead of May 26.
Abu Dhabi Flights Affected
Etihad Airways cancelled flight EY256 from Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) to Kolkata Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) and the return flight EY257 on May 26. “The flights are cancelled due to adverse weather conditions,” confirmed an airline spokesperson.
Cyclone Remal’s Projected Path
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe cyclone warning for northeastern India and coastal Bangladesh. Cyclone Remal is expected to land in West Bengal and the coastal regions of Bangladesh around midnight on May 26, causing heavy winds and rainfall.
Kolkata and the surrounding coastal areas are bracing for significant weather disruptions, with authorities urging residents to take necessary precautions.
