What Is Manakish?

Manakish is one of the most delicious gifts to UAE from the Levant region. The dish is made with dough which the bakers flatten out, make depressions with fingers and finally finish with thyme, cheese, meat and a whole lot of other toppings. Similar to a pizza, Manakish can be eaten as a snack or a meal in itself.

The dish comes is four most popular flavors across the UAE, satiating every foodie. The first and most favorite is Zaa’tar- made of thyme, oregano, marjoram, sesame seeds, and salt. There’s also a cheese version for cheese lovers, and a non-vegetarian version (meat of your choice) and a vegetarian version which comes packed with green, leafy vegetables.

This Could Probably Be UAE’s Longest Manakish & It Measures 101 CM

This could be UAE’s longest Manakish and it measures 101 centimetres, which is 1.01m long. The signature manakish comes in five different toppings including akkawi cheese, laham mafroom or minced meat, muhammara- made of fresh peppers, ground walnuts, breadcrumbs, and olive oil, labneh and Cedar of Lebanon. Well, with so many toppings wrapped in one, this is certainly the most exotic makeover a Manakish can ever get. And the best bit- the dish is priced at AED 69, which is definitely not going to burn your pocket, considering the length of the dish.

It takes the effort of two people to make this metre long Manakish, which can be shared by four. However, make sure you pre-order the dish before you head over to the restaurant as it takes 4- minutes to bake and serve the UAE’s longest Manakish.
