The Course Is Known as ‘Boire, Manger, Vivre’ Or BMV

The course on eating, drinking and socialising at Sciences Po Lille is known as ‘boire, manger, vivre’ (BMV). ‘Boire’ means to drink, ‘manger’ stands for eating and vivre means to live. In short, BMV is a lifestyle course and includes topics like gastro-diplomacy, gender equality in kitchens, food technology and beyond. Lecturer Benoit Lengaign introduced this field of study to utilise the passion for food and socialising in students to bring an impactful change in the world. Students pursuing this degree are given to write essays on topics like plant-based alternatives to non-vegetarian food, farming techniques, lifestyle and much more. They also attend conferences on food and drinks.

The Course Allows Students To Do Role Plays Of Food Experts

According to a Times Now report, course ambassador student Clémence Ricart has told Le Monde newspaper, “It is a master’s course that unites us around one passion: the world of gastronomy and food. Given the climate emergency, food will be at the heart of global challenges.” Also, did your degree allow you to do a role play? This French course surely does. Students of the course often play the roles of CEOs of food delivery startups, lifestyle journalists and food reviewers and set questions for one another. How cool is that?
