When I visited Haridwar, “The Gateway to the Gods”, I had to stay in a location that offered splendid views of the river Ganga. That’s when I decided to put up at Pilibhit House- IHCL SeleQtions, which sits charmingly by the river Ganga, overlooking the Shivalik mountains. This is a 100-year-old aristocratic mansion that’s been transformed into a plush hotel. This is the first luxury property in Haridwar. Earlier visitors never had to many choices apart from residing at the ashram or lodges. My experience at Pilibhit House left me with ample reasons to extend my stay to soak in the breath of fresh mountain air and the sounds of the gushing river Ganga. The abode of tranquillity, Pilibhit House mesmerised me with its stunning architecture and spellbinding views of the Shivalik Himalayas. This heritage residence features the largest private bathing ghat in the region. Walking past the arched doorway, gliding by the serene courtyard overlooking the Ganga, I felt like I stayed at a floating residence. Every corner of the hotel exudes calmness and luxury. Listening to the sounds of the flowing water, calmed my mind, body and soul. And it’s not just the river Ganga, but the all-natural Jiva spa, yoga and nature walk also contributed to my wellness and spirituality experience in Haridwar.

For a much-needed pampering experience, I’d suggest you visit the Jiva Spa for an age-old Indian wellness experience. Opt for a unique Gangetic mud-bath or an early-morning yoga session with the sounds, sights and smells of the ancient city of Haridwar, enveloping all your senses. When it comes to the food, I indulged in a traditional Garhwali thali  At The Dining Room. I enjoyed an alfresco dining experience that ensured views of the Ganges.

My time at Pilibhit House was certainly a memorable one. From splashing around at the infinity pool, enjoying a traditional meal by the Ganga to relaxing in an artfully decorated room, this 100-year-old mansion turned hotel, has my heart.
