Maa Kamakhya Temple In Assam Might Soon Get Ropeway
Devotees visiting Maa Kamakhya Temple in Assam may soon get a new travel option to reach the temple. According to Financial Express report, for this ropeway project, the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) has issued a new tender worth ₹201.52 crore. The proposed ropeway will connect Kamakhya Railway Station to Maa Kamakhya Temple.
The proposed ropeway in Assam will cover 1.43 km. The project aims to help devotees arriving by train and reduce their dependence on road travel. NHLML has invited private companies to build and manage the ropeway. Under this model, the selected company will arrange the funds, construct the ropeway and operate it. Once the agreement period ends, it will hand over the project as per the agreed terms.

What Are The Tender Details?
NHLML issued the tender on October 21, 2026. The deadline for submitting bids is December 8, 2026, at 15:00. Interested companies can apply online through the government’s e-procurement portal. Officials will start checking the applications submitted by interested companies on December 9, 2026, at 15:30 (3:30 PM). The tender ID is 2026_NHAI-295257-1.
In January 2026, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari shared details about the proposed ropeway on X. He estimated the project cost at ₹213.24 crore and said it could reduce travel time from 20 minutes to just six minutes.
