It’s run by an all women-staff and houses only women. It’s truly the safest abode women travellers could ask for. Here’s what you must know about Hostess.
Kerala Has India’s First Hotel For Women Run By Women
In 2018, Kerala opened not only the state’s but India’s first-ever hotel for women. ‘Hostess’ was launched by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) to boost tourism in the state but also provide a safe and comfortable abode for all women travellers. Hostess in Thiruvananthapuram is located near the main bus stand adjacent to Central Railway Station. It’s run by an all-women staff, from the bottom rung to the managerial positions. KTDC hoped to provide good accommodation for female travellers, sportspersons and researchers arriving in God’s Own Country. Nestled near the Central Railway Station of Kerala, this only-women hotel has automated security services to ensure the safety and security of all the guests and staff.
Tight Security, Fitness Centre, Complimentary Breakfast & More
When it comes to the facilities, Hostess offers state-of-the-art amenities like technology-oriented check-ins and checkouts, security features, complimentary breakfast, microwave oven, fitness centre and laundry services. This is a stylish women-friendly abode and offers safety, security, luxury and comfort to guests. Rahul R, IRS, Managing Director, KTDC stated to The New Indian Express that the hotel targets women researchers, teenage girls, businesswomen, sportspersons, travellers and pilgrim groups who visit the city for a short stay.
Hostess Offers Both Rooms & Dormitories For Guests
Hostess has 22 AC rooms and 2 AC dormitories to host around 28 people at a time. The rooms will be charged ₹1500 per night. The dormitory facility will be available on an hourly basis for around ₹500 for four hours. Apart from the modern facilities, guests also have easy access to the bus and railway station from the hotel. Kerala has truly set a fine example on making women tourists and guests to the state feel at home through this all-women hotel run by women for women. Apart from providing guests with a safe space, Hostess also provides employment opportunities to scores of women.
We hope many more states in India come up with such initiatives and help make our country a safer space for women.
