According to the Hindustan Times report, the Char Dham yatra was in progress, however, it was stopped and postponed. As per the police, this decision was taken due to bad weather conditions in Kedarnath and Badrinath. In light of the rain and snow expected during the Chardham yatra, Uttarakhand Director General of Police Ashok Kumar issued orders on Saturday and asked officials to exercise particular caution.

As per Ravi Saini, Station House Officer of Srinagar police station, the yatra is temporarily halted. The accommodations in Srinagar are sufficient, and it won’t be an issue for the travellers. When the weather improves, passengers are urged to continue their trip.

Through a video conference, DGP Ashok Kumar assessed the situation and gave the relevant district in-charges instructions. DGP Kumar ordered that all checkpoints along the roads departing from Rishikesh should provide weather forecast information to travellers arriving on the Chardham Yatra.

DGP Kumar further ensures to update the passengers about the weather conditions through several mediums. Additionally, he instructed them to install wireless sets for the State Disaster Response Force on both sides of the glaciers along the Kedarnath Dham route. He even mentioned using drones and special rafts for security during the Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan, as well as putting CCTV cameras at every gathering spot.

The Kedarnath Dham path should have SDRF duty with radio units erected on both sides of the glacier. The devotees should be given special instructions on how to carefully cross the glaciers from surrounding the glaciers. The passengers on both sides should be instructed to stop in a secure location in case anything strange appears. A separate hallway should be created for the delegates due to security concerns.
