As Oman observes National Day 2026, it will be a holiday on Wednesday and Thursday, November 25th and 26th. This is according to the Ministry of Labour’s annual statement, which pertains to the national and religious holidays.
Long Weekend In Oman For National Day Holiday?
As revealed in a report by the Times of Oman, the two-day holiday on November 25th and 26th is going to offer residents and citizens an extended break. After all, it coincides with the weekend! This comes as the Council of Ministers approved the advance announcement of the official holiday dates. This helps the public and private sectors to organise and plan their work schedules and programmes. It also helps in avoiding any clash with local and international events.
It Is Celebrated With Parades, Events & More
National Day is an important celebration in Oman, which is marked with events across the governorates. These celebrations highlight the heritage, culture, and national identity of the Sultanate. An official holiday in the Sultanate of Oman, it celebrates the date of the founding of the Al Bu Said dynasty.

Traditionally, Oman celebrated National Day on November 18th. However, later, to modernise and consolidate the holiday period, under Royal Decree No. 15/2025 issued on January 21st, 2025, it was changed. It was established on November 20th and 21st would be celebrated as the official National Day holiday. However, if either of these days falls on a weekend, a substitute day may be observed.
National Day celebrations include parades, camel races, a marine festival, equestrian shows, fireworks and more. The two-day holiday allows Omanis to take the opportunity to return to their home villages.
So, with the long weekend scheduled in November, it gives people a chance to celebrate the important national holiday with their friends and family.
