BMC To Construct Viewing Deck At Chaityabhoomi

The next time you visit Dadar Chowpatty you can witness breathtaking views of the Bandra Worli Sea Link while standing atop a beautifully lit viewing deck at Chaityabhoomi. BMC shall build an elevated platform over a non-functioning stormwater drain outfall. Spanning 16-feet above sea level and spread across 1, 500sqm, this project costs ₹3.61 crores. BMC floated the tenders for the same on November 2.

This project also includes constructing ramps on the deck for the convenience of differently-abled and senior citizens. Kiran Dighavkar, assistant municipal commissioner of G-North ward (Dadar) stated to Hindustan Times “The SWD outfall is redundant, and there are many visitors who climb on it to take selfies or photos of the Bandra-Worli sea link. We decided to strengthen the drain outfall area and construct this deck as a tourist attraction. All necessary coastal permissions have been sought for this project.”

Viewing Deck To Have Electric Lamp Posts & Ramps For Differently- Abled & Senior Citizens

A senior civic official informed Hindustan Times, “Electric lamp posts will be installed, which will be similar in style to the proposed railing on the deck. Since the deck will be over the SWD outfall, covering it completely, the drain will be protected from any further damage. All coastal norms are being followed.” While you can’t explore Mumbai freely right now, do take a virtual tour through this video below.
