New Baggage Scanners At Airports To Remove Need To Take Out Laptop & Other Electronic Devices From Bags

If you’re a traveller who frequently passes through airports, you know it can be a hassle to remove your electronic devices from your neatly packed bags. This was also one of the major reasons for the severe congestion at Delhi airport recently. However, this laborious task might soon be omitted as the installation of new baggage scanners is in the works. These scanners will omit the need to remove electronic devices while going through the security check.

New Baggage Scanners Will Save Time

Up until now, passengers have had to remove all their electronic devices from their bags and lay them out in a tray whenever they passed through security checkpoints. This increased the amount of time, labour, and congestion at the airport. Recently in the news, Delhi airport grappled with crowded airports and the baggage scanners only added to the problem. To avoid this from happening in the future, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the regulatory authority of civil aviation in India, announced the implementation of new scanners. These new scanners will omit the need to go through the ordeal of removing laptops and electronic devices from bags.

Airports of Major Cities Prioritised

The BCAS passed a directive within a month that will fast-track the adoption of the new baggage scanners. They also mentioned that the airports in major cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Bangalore will be the first to receive these new scanners. The other airports will get the same over the course of the following year. Many airports in other countries already have scanners that do not require passengers to remove their devices from their bags. India will soon be one such country.
