The Loop Bridge, often referred to as the ‘snake bridge’ due to its unique architectural design, is constructed on a 41-meter-high pillar. Its distinctive structure has made it a popular attraction among tourists. However, the increasing number of visitors had raised safety concerns, especially with the ongoing construction work.

In response, the Kalimpong district administration had previously issued orders restricting vehicles from halting on the bridge and prohibiting activities like taking selfies or reels to prevent accidents.

To address these concerns while enhancing the tourist experience, the administration has now identified two specific locations along the Loop Bridge where vehicles can safely stop. These designated viewpoints allow tourists to step out and take photographs without compromising safety. This initiative ensures that visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty of the region responsibly.

The introduction of these viewpoints is part of a broader effort to boost tourism in the Kalimpong region. The district administration has also identified eight additional spots along NH 717A to serve as tourist convenience points, offering visitors places to relax and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area.

These developments are expected to attract more tourists, thereby stimulating local businesses and contributing to the economic growth of the region. By providing safe and accessible viewpoints, the administration aims to promote sustainable tourism that benefits both visitors and the local community.
