A fun-filled outing for a group of nurses turned into a nightmare on Sunday, after a 35-year-old nurse, Ranjitha N, died in a zipline accident at a resort on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The incident has cast a spotlight on the importance of safety measures at such recreational facilities.

Ranjitha, a resident of Attibele and an employee at a private hospital, was enjoying a day trip with 17 colleagues at the Jungle Trailz Resort in Bettahalli village. The horror unfolded around 11:15 am when the cable on a 100-metre zip line snapped mid-ride, sending Ranjitha plummeting 30 feet to the ground. While colleagues rushed her to a nearby hospital, doctors sadly declared her ‘brought dead’ due to internal injuries and shock.
The accident has sparked outrage, with reports alleging the resort lacked proper safety protocols and didn’t even have a basic first-aid centre. Police have booked the resort’s owner and workers, arresting the manager. A colleague of Ranjitha filed a complaint under sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to culpable homicide and endangering life.
