During travels and interacting with people, you fall in love with particular places. And there are a few that make a place in your heart, never to lose their importance. And at times, you feel that it would be great to have a home in your favourite place and probably retire there? Tell us that it has never happened that you wanted to buy properties at your favourite holiday destinations. The real estate game is solid at international destinations, with people buying and selling properties constantly, but it is less of a tradition in India. However, buying properties here can be tricky, considering our lifestyles. And a few places do not allow you to buy properties at all. Find out below – 

1. Kashmir 

Travellers’ paradise and everyone’s dream: Kashmir is where you’d want to buy properties or at least have a home when you wish to unwind from the hectic city life. Before the abrogation of Article 370, outsiders or non-Kashmiris weren’t allowed to own properties. But now, after 2019, you can look for a property there and choose to retire there later.

2. Shillong

Moving to the mountains is always a good idea. And, you must desperately want to own a property in the NorthEast, considering the beauty and peace surrounding the states. With small towns, the warmest of people, and beautiful skies, Northeast India is a dream. But, buying properties in Shillong is a tough job, and you aren’t allowed as the government aims to protect the place and locals.

3. Sikkim

The snow-capped mountains, monasteries, and scenic evening skies are everything for the ones staying in the cities. But, you can only visit Sikkim for a certain period, live there, and enjoy the local life. But sadly, you cannot buy properties here or own one!

4. Himachal Pradesh

This hill station is another loved destination for people and sometimes, you would want to thank the officials for not allowing everyone to buy properties in the hills. Can you imagine Himachal Pradesh or your favourite hill station spots turning into ugly concrete destinations? No, Right? So, you should drop the idea of buying properties there. But, visit time to time to admire the beauty of the hills and have a peaceful time there. 

5. Arunachal Pradesh

Two of the most scenic places with rare tourist spots in NorthEast India don’t allow outsiders to buy properties here. The traditions, culture and people are a few things which will remain etched in your mind. However, if you’re planning to settle down there or have a holiday home, it will not be possible unless you are a localite.
