PM Modi Praises UP’s First Amrit Sarovar That Conserves Water

To combat the issue of water scarcity, water conservation is of prime importance. Thus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the initiative ‘Amrit Sarovar’ that highlights water conservation. PM Modi introduced the initiative as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on the occasion of India’s 75th year of independence. As part of the move, the PM has intended to boost the development of 75 Amrit Sarovars or ponds. In one of the episodes of the radio show Mann ki Baat, he praised the first Amrit Sarovar of Uttar Pradesh.

UP Government Plans To Launch Around 1000 Amrit Sarovars

Uttar Pradesh got its first Amrit Sarovar in Patwai, Shahabad of Rampur district. In Mann ki Baat, PM Modi mentioned about the Sarovar and lauded its launch. The pond will help in the conservation of water. The government of Uttar Pradesh has planned to launch a minimum of 1000 such ponds across the state. The first among them has come up in Shahabad and another will soon be introduced on a 1.67 hectares area. PM Modi’s appreciation will encourage the efforts of the authorities to bring forth more such Amrit Sarovars, stated officials of the urban department.

PM Modi Launched The Initiative In Jammu Too

PM Modi has also launched the Amrit Sarovar initiative in Jammu. He also transferred the fund of the National Panchayat Award to top Panchayat accounts in Jammu’s Samba town. The PM launched developmental projects worth ₹20,000 crores in the union territory.
