Star Air Launches Direct Flights Between Mumbai & Kolhapur

Now you can fly directly from Mumbai to Kolhapur with Star Air. Kolhapur is a historic city in Maharashtra and a pilgrimage site for Hindus. The city is home to the famous Mahalakshmi Temple and other prominent shrines. The Mumbai-Kolhapur Star Air flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

With the addition of Kolhapur, the Bangalore-based airline is operating scheduled flights to 19 Indian destinations now including Indore, Jodhpur, Delhi, Ajmer and Ahmedabad.

Star Air To Reduce Travel Time Between Mumbai And Kolhapur To Less Than An Hour

By road, it takes around 7 hours and 30 minutes to reach Kolhapur from Mumbai. A train journey between Delhi and Kolhapur would also take nearly 7 to 8 hours. The Star Air flights will cut the travel time between the two cities to less than an hour. Kolhapur is the 19th Indian destination to which Star Air introduced flights under its Regional Connectivity Route.

Kolhapur, The City With An Ancient Charm

Lying on the banks of the Panchganga River, Kolhapur is home to many majestic temples and monuments. The Mahalaxmi temple in Kolhapur attracts a large number of pilgrims. They come to the shrine from far and wide to worship Goddess Mahalakshmi or the Supreme Mother. Many religious festivals including Lakhsmi Puja, Rathotsav, Lalita Panchami and Varalakhsmi Vratham also take place at the temple.

Besides the Mahalakshmi temple, Kolhapur is also home to Shri Binkhambi Ganesh Mandir, Kolhapur Town Hall Museum, Shri Temblai Mandir, Panchganga Ghat, Laxmi Narayan Mandir and Pohale Buddhist Caves, among other attractions.

Kolhapur And Kolhapuri Chappals

If you have got a fetish for desi and Indo-western styles, you might have already heard about the Kolhapuri chappals and shoes. These traditional leather sandals are crafted and manufactured in Kolhapur. Due to their distinctiveness and elegance, these ethnic shoes have now earned global recognition.

For now, Star Air will operate flights from Mumbai to Kolhapur thrice a week. However, after analysing the demand and response from the passengers, the airline might launch daily flights between the two cities.
