From TV to the big screen, Radhikka Madan has made a name for herself with each project she takes up. Having ruled the television world since she was 17, her movies like Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and Angrezi Medium made her noticeable to a wider audience. So, in the latest episode of Tere Gully Mein, our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani met and enjoyed a delicious South Indian meal with Punjabi girl Radhikka Madan in Bandra, and here’s how it went down.
Exploring Bandra With Radhikka Madan
After chilling with her at singer Jasleen Royal’s home for a delicious Punjabi Sunday Brunch, we took things a little south this time and enjoyed an authentic South Indian meal with Radhikka Madan. In this episode of Tere Gully Mein, she first invited us for a much-needed coffee run at Subko. While driving towards our next destination, we spoke to her about her journey from Delhi to Mumbai, her love for acting, and the hustle behind her success.
She shared that when she got selected for her first role in television for the show Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi, she was offered ₹1 lakh/month and her father was convinced that she was getting scammed. Talking about her transition from the TV screen to Bollywood, she feels working for television prepared her for anything in life and acting in movies is much easier.
Radhikka Madan was born and raised in Delhi, so we had to ask her about her favourite chaat places in the city. “Gulab in Pitampura! Uske gol gappe and paani, it’s amazing,” she said.
Also, does she feel there is a difference between people in Mumbai and Delhi? “Yes! Khatidari, khana-pilana, tu yahin pe reh jaa–woh cheez Mumbai main nahi hai. Aap jab yahan naye-naye aate ho toh aapko lagta hai yeah pyaar kahan hai? Community kahan hai?”
South Indian Meal With Delhi Ki Kuddi!
The most surprising thing we discovered was that the true-blue Punjabi girl Radhikka Madan is obsessed with South Indian food! She took us to Tanjore Tiffin and we enjoyed rasam, lemon rice, Madrasi Railway Curry, podi idli, appam, dosa, and sambar with her there. In Delhi, she loves the iconic Saravana Bhavan for its delicious South Indian flavours.
