The world’s first edible mask is here! And it’s made of over two layers of bread. Three bread loving university students from Japan helped develop this one-of-a-kind melonpan face mask or ‘Mask Pan’ ( Mask Bread). The bread is sourced from Japan’s renowned Melon de Melon bakery. Japan Students Help Develop Mask Made Of Melon Bread

Goku no Kimochi The Labo, an experimental lab run by head massage specialists developed melonpan face mask or Mask Pan in partnership with three bread fanatic university students from Fukuoka and Okinawa. The students desired to smell melon bread all the time. And the result was the ‘world’s first edible face mask’. Tokyo-based Melon de Melon bakery, with branches scattered all over the country, bakes the iconic melon bread for the mask. Earlier, a natural mask made of neem and tulsi leaves went viral in India.

Melon Bread Masks Have 2 Layers Of Bread & Block Release Of Droplets

The company currently markets the product as “the happiest mask in the world to fulfil the dreams of bread lovers”. But the company claims to have research that the mask made of two layers of soft bread with cookie coating ensures there are at least two layers between your face and the air. The melonpan masks were found to be as good as commercial face masks as they blocked the release of droplets when people spoke. The edible face masks can e munched on the inside. They will be exclusively sold online from June 10 within Japan in packs of five costing 1,800 Yen (₹1200).
