You can buy an endless option of mithai from stores and shops but there is always something special about homemade sweets and desserts. It feels like the deliciousness gets doubled after making yummy sweets at home. Well, we have an amazing recipe for Sev Barfi and you can easily make it at home.

Taking to Instagram, Chef Saloni Kukreja has shared the recipe to make this unique sweet treat for Diwali. What are the ingredients and how to make them at home? Read on to know all about this barfi recipe.

It always feels special to cook something for our family and friends all by ourselves. And the feelings become extra special and memorable when we cook the dishes for our loved ones on the grand occasion of Diwali. The celebration of the festival of lights and its gastronomic experiences are enjoyed to the fullest when there are loads of sweets to relish. And this time, we wish that you make some desserts at home.

But do not worry if you are a newbie or do not have much expertise in cooking. Chef Saloni Kukreja has shared a recipe for Sev Barfi and the steps are quite easy to follow.

She has added the list of ingredients and explained all the steps and processes to follow to make this unique sweet treat to enjoy on Diwali. Arrange all the ingredients that you are going to need to prepare this sweet and start the cooking process soon.

How To Make This Delish Dessert At Home?

Ingredients:

  • 250g Unsalted Sev
  • 250g Milk
  • 3/4th cup Sugar (use according to your preference)
  • 1 cup Khoya/ Mawa
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 2 tsp Rose Water
  • Saffron strands
  • Almonds
  • Pistachios
  • Rose petals
  • Silver Vark

Method: 

  • Start the cooking process of Sev Barfi by adding some ghee to a pan and saute the khoya. Keep some khoya aside.
  • After a few minutes, add milk and sugar and cook for a few more minutes. Cook till all the sugar granules dissolve well in milk. Ensure you are continuing on low heat.
  • Bring up the heat to a bit and let the milk boil properly.
  • Once boiled, turn down the flame to low and add some cardamom powder and saffron strands.
  • Next, add unsalted sev and cook again for a couple of minutes.
  • Next, turn off the gas and add the separate khoya to the pan. Add some rose water too. Mix well, cover the pan but not entirely, and let everything sit for about half an hour.
  • Then, take a plate and grease it well with ghee. Spread the barfi mixture generously and garnish with some rose petals, chopped almonds and pistachios, and silver vark.
  • Once sev barfi cools down, cut it into pieces and enjoy.
