Over the course of the last few years, millions of people from India have left their homeland and migrated to the United Kingdom or the UK in hopes of better opportunities. However, things might not be as rosy as previously thought. Recent research has shown that the UK passport is actually one of the worst in the European Union or EU when it comes to value for money. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this revelatory piece of information.
UK Passport Deemed The Worst In EU In Value For Money
Recent research done by a digital PR agency Tank based on the data provided by the Henley Passport Index revealed some illuminating insights. The research employed the price of the passport along with years of validity and access to other countries to come up with insights.
According to an article which was recently published by the Helensburgh Advertiser, the UK passport has fallen four places from its previous rank after it recently increased its price. Before the increase, its price was £82.50 or ₹8,726 and its rank was 31. Now, however, after the increase, its price is £88.50 or almost ₹9,361.
The passport is valid for a total of ten years and the yearly cost is 2.65 per cent of the average monthly salary which is £8.85 or ₹936. Passport holders can visit up to 192 countries in the world visa-free. However, when compared to other passports, like Spain for instance, its poor value for money becomes apparent.
This Is the Best Passport When It Comes To Value For Money
Spain charges £25.80 or ₹2,728 for its passport which comes with a validity of ten years and gives access to 194 countries visa-free. This is still not the best passport when it comes to value for money. That crown went to the United Arab Emirates or UAE.
It only costs £10.82 or ₹1,144 and comes with a validity of ten years. It offers visa-free access to a whopping 184 countries!
