Uruguay is surely one of the most underrated countries in the world. The country has recently launched a digital nomad visa and has become the first choice of remote professionals and tech workers across the globe.

The reason people consider it their place is very evident after the digital nomad visa announcement. The place has an amazing football culture, classy steaks, pristine beaches, and a higher standard of living compared to other South American countries.

The Uruguayan visa for digital nomads has a simple application procedure and few prerequisites. Uruguay, unlike many other nations, does not have a minimum income requirement for applicants, leaving it open to a variety of remote employees.

Additionally, the full application procedure can be completed online, doing away with the necessity for documentation and in-person trips to consulates or embassies. (As per FLATIO)

Tax Exempts And Other Benefits

The tax exemption for technical services is one of the most alluring features of the Uruguayan visa for digital nomads.

The Uruguayan government is interested in luring digital nomads who work in the technology industry because it recognises the significance of the digital economy.

Because of this, income from technology services is not subject to tax, which is a big benefit for digital nomads who operate in this industry.

If you want to extend your digital nomad visa, which is for 180 days, you will have to meet certain criteria and fulfil some requirements. This includes providing a clean criminal record from all the countries where you have lived in the past five years for more than six months. You will also have to submit a Uruguayan-issued vaccination certificate. (As per FLATIO)
