On Monday, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that CISF has heightened security measures in view of Republic Day. While commuters are requested to cooperate with security personnel during the intense checks, many took to X to voice their dissatisfaction. Thorough commuter scanning and luggage checks are causing delays and longer queues at metro stations resulting in longer queues during peak hours.

However, the increased vigilance has drawn mixed reactions from daily passengers. Taking to X, a commuter expressed frustration over the delays, stating, “Making it slow doesn’t intensify it. Stop irritating common people. All your inefficient @CISFHQrs staff just do it slowly to make it look stringent.”

Another user highlighted, “Delhi metro please we can’t afford it in that peak time please. we are using delhi metro because to avoid traffic. this is the peak hour to travel for a corporate life. we all know that 26th january (republic day ) is near but we can’t afford it in that time. @OfficialDMRC.”

Republic Day Theme, Celebrations And More

It is held annually to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution on January 26, 1950, as our nation became officially a democratic republic. This year the theme of the Republic Day is Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’ (Golden India: Heritage and Progress). Each year the Indian government chooses a unique theme to mark the occasion, and this year’s focus shines a spotlight on the nation’s rich cultural heritage and its journey of growth and development.

According to NDTV, the grand parade on Kartavya Path will showcase tableaux from 15 states and union territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh. Alongside these, 11 central government contingents will also take part in the magnificent event. The event’s main attraction will be the unveiling of the Pralay missile, an advanced weapon system developed indigenously.
