Data released by a global technology and digital talent solutions provider shows that the travel and tourism sector is expected to add more than five crore jobs to India by 2033. NLB Services released the data on Monday, April 29, and said that the sector was responsible for as much as eight per cent of the workforce in the nation in 2020. According to an article which was recently published by the Press Trust of India or PTI, the tourism sector saw a 44 per cent increase in the demand for talent in August 2023. As per the CEO of NLB Services cited in the article, the employment growth will be in tier 1 and tier 2 cities alike.

As per the CEO’s statement, a total of 1.6 million jobs were expected to be added in the year 2023. If the growth momentum continues, it is expected that 5.82 crore jobs will be added to India in the travel and tourism sector in the coming decade.

The industry contributed close to ₹15 lakh crore to the economy of India in 2022. The tourism sector was also one of the fastest to recover from the effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic. It is also likely that the tourism industry will undergo a major transformation with many emerging subsets like sustainable tourism, wedding tourism, etc.
