Bengaluru’s Namma Metro network is gearing up for further expansion, with the Pink Line awaiting approval to begin passenger services and Blue Line trial runs targeted for the end of October. Meanwhile, the upcoming Orange Line will feature flyovers and a short tunnel as part of plans to improve connectivity across the city. Here’s a look at the latest Bengaluru Metro updates and what commuters can expect.

Bengaluru Metro Pink Line: Opening Approval Expected Soon

Commuters travelling along Bannerghatta Road could soon have a new Metro option. According to The Hindu, safety clearance for the 7.5-km elevated section of the Pink Line, connecting Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere, is expected within five days.

The stretch includes six stations and will improve connectivity across parts of south Bengaluru. However, the passenger opening date will depend on the final approval.

The Pink Line will eventually connect Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara, covering approximately 21 km. While the elevated section is nearing completion, work continues on the underground stretch.

Blue Line: Trial Runs By October-End

The Blue Line is another major project commuters are watching, especially those travelling along the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

The corridor will connect Central Silk Board to KR Puram and extend towards Kempegowda International Airport, improving connectivity for people travelling to Bengaluru’s major technology and office hubs.

Trial runs on the ORR section are targeted for the end of October. However, signalling integration and other technical preparations need to be completed before testing can proceed. Passenger services will begin only after the required trials and approvals.

Namma Metro Orange Line To Feature Flyovers & Short Tunnel

Meanwhile, the proposed 44.65-km Orange Line under Namma Metro Phase 3 will connect JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura and Hosahalli to Kadabagere.

According to Deccan Herald, the project includes planned flyovers and a short tunnel to address traffic bottlenecks along parts of the route.

The infrastructure plans include double-decker structures at Sarakki Junction and along the Kamakya-Ittamadu-Hosakerehalli stretch, along with additional road improvements near Kadabagere and Sumanahalli. An underpass is also planned at Goraguntepalya, where the Orange Line will cross the existing Green Line.
