Due to the alarming second wave of the pandemic, most of us are scared to move out of our homes. But then there are some people who are yearning to step out at any cost. On World Laughter Day, Mumbai Police took a quirky dig on these yearners and shared a list of hilarious excuses people made amid the lockdown to be allowed to leave the house. Taking a cue from movie disclaimers, the organisation has even captioned the post as “All the characters and events depicted are real. Any resemblance to a person living or dead is purely intentional.”

A Man Wanted To Step Out As He Was ‘Missing’ His Girlfriend; Cops Make Witty Reply

Mumbai Police has shared a list of humorous reasons people had put up to be allowed to step out amid the second wave lockdown of COVID-19. Someone had put a medical emergency stating, “Sir, I had to get a band-aid.” Another went a notch higher and said, “It’s my girlfriend’s birthday tomorrow, we are planning a 12 ‘o’clock surprise.” A person even wrote that he could not put on a mask as he was having paan. One wrote, “Was feeling very hungry, so came out to eat Vada Pav.”

When Mumbai Commissioner had mandated the movement of cars in the city only with colour coded stickers, a man had tweeted, “What sticker should I use in order to go out and meet my girlfriend? I miss her.” And Mumbai Police’s witty reply had won the heart of the netizens. The police wrote, “We understand it’s essential for you sir but unfortunately it doesn’t fall under our essentials or emergency categories! Distance makes the heart grow fonder & currently, you healthier P.S. We wish you a lifetime together. This is just a phase.”

Communicating Through Wit And Humour…

Time and again, Mumbai Police has used wit and humour as a tool to draw attention to important messages. Even a year back, posts of Mumbai police to spread COVID-19 awareness had taken social media by storm. They had thrown up a post with a ‘stay at home’ horoscope for the week, and another post taking inspiration from Harry Potter. And hands down, the posts were too catchy to skip.

Recently, the governmental social media page also shared the ‘Lyrics of Safety’ featuring Linken Park, Ed Sheeran (Ed’Shee ran home), Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift and more. The post caption reads, “Mumbai Police, in collaboration with responsible Mumbaikars, is proud to present ‘Safety Remix – Volume 2′”.
