There is a wise Chinese saying, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now.” Trees, as we all know, are the lungs of the world. They help purify the air we breathe and supply us with oxygen in return. Planting a multitude of trees around us not only ensures that the soil remains firm during rains but they also improve the air quality. People around the world have been coming up with many innovative methods to plant more trees and one such initiative is by TRS MP J Santosh Kumar. In a game similar to ‘Tag’, Mr J Santhosh Kumar tagged people in a challenge to plant a sapling and soon the movement became a success.
What’s In It?
TRS MP J Santhosh Kumar tagged the Chief Secretary SK Joshi in the green challenge. He went on to plant a sapling in the Medipalli urban forest park. Mr SK Joshi then tagged three people namely the AP Chief Secretary, Neelam Sawhney, Telangana Special Chief Secretary, Rajeshwar Tiwari and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, R Sobha in the green challenge.
On his birthday, Mr J Santhosh Kumar urged the public to plant a sapling and send him a selfie-and the people responded with utter enthusiasm. Many famous personalities including film stars, sportspersons, ministers along with the public, responded positively towards this green initiative.
