Telangana is a beautiful state in India. It is known as the cultural melting point, where all the various languages and cultures meet. It is popularly called the “North of the South” and the “South of the North”. The state is also known for its beautiful architecture and the temples that are built here. If you are in Telangana and do not visit temples, well then you have missed the main beauty then. Here are 10 temples in Telangana which you must visit.

1. Birla Temple

Birla Temple is a work of architectural art that you should not miss.The temple is made out of 2000 tonnes of white marble. The temple is located about 280 feet above ground level. The temple was constructed by the Birla group and is dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara. After reaching the temple, you can view the entire Hyderabad city from the top.

2. Chilkur Balaji Temple

People in Hyderabad are fond of Lord Balaji, and this is why the city has so many Balaji temples. One of these is the Chilkur Balaji Temple. Lord Balaji is said to grant your wish after 11 pradakshinas, or rounds of the temple.This temple is also known as Visa Balaji. The reason is that it is believed that offering prayers here helps you get a US Visa successfully.

3. Sanghi Temple

This famous temple in Telangana is located 35 km away from the city of Hyderabad. The temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara and houses a majestic Gopuram. The Chola-Chalukya style of architecture is used in building this temple. The idol worshipped here is said to be an exact replica of the idol in Tirumala Tirupati.

Where: Omerkhandaira, Hyderabad is the location.

When: 8am-1pm and 4pm-8pm

4. Bhadrakali Temple

This temple is one of the oldest in the state. The temple wall writings inform us that it was built in 625 A.D. It was founded by the rulers of the Chalukya Dynasty. Goddess Bhadrakali is the deity of this temple. A beautiful stone idol of the Goddess is installed here. It is said that the temple was rebuilt in the year 1950 after Allaudin Khilji looted it.

5. The Thousand Pillars Temple

The name itself talks about the uniqueness of this temple. The temple houses about 1,000 pillars. It is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The temple is dedicated to three gods, namely Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva and Surya. It is an architectural beauty that speaks of Kakatiya craftsmanship. Each pillar has intriguing and intricate carvings.

6. Surendrapuri Temple

This temple is one of the most famous in Telangana. It is more of a mythological theme park. The place is a paradise for all those who love mythology, culture, and art. The idols in the temple are not randomly placed. They are placed in reference to Vedic knowledge.You can also visit Nagakoti, which has a 101-foot tall Shiva Linga. The amazing sculptures here depict the stories of various gods.

7. The Lakshmi Narasimha Temple

This temple is dedicated to Lord Narsimha, who is known as the embodiment of Lord Vishnu. People from across states come here to perform different rituals and poojas. The temple is located inside a cave and also has many chambers. There are many sculptures of various deities which you can explore while taking a stroll in the evening in the temple premises.

8. Hanuman Temple at Karmanghat

Karmanghat Hanuman Temple was built in the 11th century. It is therefore known as one of the oldest temples in Telangana. The main deity of this temple is Lord Hanuman. The people here worship the Lord, keeping the Vedic style of worship. This temple is famous among people because it is believed that offering prayers here can cure any disease, no matter how life-threatening it is.

9. Gnana Saraswati Temple

This temple is known as one of the most famous temples of Goddess Saraswati. This temple is situated on the banks of the river Godavari. The beautiful trinity of Lord Saraswati, Lord Lakshmi, and Kali is worshipped here. The temple is said to have had great significance in the time of the Mahabharata. Young children are brought here to learn their first words, known as’ Akshara Abhyasam’.

10. Beechupally, Anjaneya Swamy Temple

Lord Hanuman is known as Anjaneya Swamy in the South of India. This temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is situated on the banks of the river Krishna. The temple houses a Shiva linga as well. Every 12 years, people bathe in several ghats, which is known as the ‘pushkara snanam’. People generally visit this temple in the monsoon.
