Delhi seems to be getting a break from the soaring temperatures this weekend! The city experienced rainfall and strong winds on Saturday and as per the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) prediction, Delhi NCR is likely to receive more rain showers till Monday. This sudden turn of weather has brought down the temperature in the city and given people some respite.

IMD Predicts More Rain Showers Till Monday In Delhi NCR

Keeping up with IMD’s prediction, Delhi received heavy rainfall in various parts of the city. Strong winds and rain showers were observed through Delhi NCR on Saturday and the temperature dropped significantly in the region. According to IMD, rain showers will continue in the city till Monday.

They further noted that the maximum temperature in Delhi NCR is likely to be around 33° Celsius on Sunday with the possibility of rain. For Monday, they have forecasted light rainfall. However, the maximum temperature in the city is likely to be around 37° Celsius by April 19. As per IMD, rainfall over northwest India is due to a western disturbance that lies over Iran and Afghanistan. They further mentioned that the moisture entering northwest India from the Arabian Sea also adds to the rainfall in the region.

Flights Diverted From Delhi Airport Amid Heavy Rainfall On Saturday

The maximum temperature recorded on Saturday morning was 39.3° Celsius. After the rainfall, the mercury dropped to 24.2 ° Celsius by 8.30 PM. While the temperature drop brought respite for the people in the city, it caused some disturbance for the air traffic. As per reports, as many as 22 flights were diverted from Delhi due to adverse weather conditions on Saturday.

The diversions took place from 3 PM to 4:30 PM due to bad weather. These included nine flights from IndiGo, three from Vistara, eight from Air India, and one each from Air India Express and Saudia. The flights were diverted to Lucknow, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Varanasi, Amritsar, and Ahmedabad.
