A Ferry service is expected to start after the monsoon this year on the river Yamuna.

What Is It?

Delhiites can now ease off travel time and efforts as a Ferry Service is expected to start this year end on the river Yamuna. A pilot service is expected to start after the monsoon and the regular service will begin by this year-end. The Yamuna is among the most populated rivers of the country, where the Ferry service will begin connecting Tronica City in Ghaziabad to Sonia Vihar in Delhi.

What’s In It?

According to The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), it will consist of three floating jetties and ancillary facilities for passengers to reach boarding and deboarding points. Currently, the concerned authorities are conducting an environmental inspection of the service. As per the National Green Tribunal (NGT), no construction will be carried out for jetties.

Each ride will be 30-40 minutes of a trip and the vessels will be battery-and-diesel operated and will run on electricity.

The Ferry service is said to be operational by December 2019.
