Mumbai Airport: 400 Dirhams Stolen From A Passenger’s Bag

When travelling, one of your worst fears is that your expensive stuff or even your money gets stolen. For this passenger, the fear turned into a nightmare when 400 dinars were stolen from his baggage at the Mumbai airport. The police have launched an investigation and are trying to find out who was behind the stolen sum. So far, the police suspect the ground staff of the airport.

Mumbai Airport: 400 Dirhams Stolen From Passenger’s Bag

Amardeep Kaur Singh, the complainant, is 58 years old. He was on his way to Dubai along with his son from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport or CSMIA. The incident took place on the 21st of March presumably around 11:05 PM, which was when Singh boarded his plane.

According to him, he had stashed 400 UAE Dirhams in his bag which was locked securely and was checked in at the airport. When he landed in Dubai, however, he found that his bag was unzipped and that the 400 Dirhams he had in the bag were missing.

On returning to Mumbai, he filed a case with the Sahar Police station. The case is registered under section 379 in the Indian Penal Code or IPC. The police have launched an investigation and are suspecting the ground staff at the airport.

According to the police, the prime suspects are the loader, screener and feeder as they were the people who had direct access to the baggage and its contents. Their investigations indicate that after the passenger checked in, he put his bag on the screening counter. The bag was then screened and the loader then took it to the ground at the airport. The feeder then stored the bag in the baggage compartment of the aircraft.

The police also think that while screening, someone from the ground staff must have noticed the bundle of cash inside the baggage and reported it to someone else who then executed the stealing. The CCTV cameras around the check-in counter and the screening counter are being checked. Note that this is all speculation and that no one from the staff has, so far, been found guilty.
