On the first day of new year, many people battle down long queues and visit temples and gurudwaras to seek God’s blessings and begin their year with positivity. Some people visit local temples in their neighbourhood while many throng to some of the most famous temples in the year. This year too, many people thronged to different temples like Siddhivinayak, Vaishno Devi and more. Take a look at the crowd.
Siddhivinayak To Vaishno Devi People Visit Temples On Jan 1
The Sabarimala Sree Ayyappan Temple in Kerala generally witnesses a huge number of pilgrims. Following the nirmalyam and abhishekam procedures, the idol of Lord Ayyappa was anointed with ghee from 18,018 coconuts when the shrine opened at three in the morning. This year, too, huge crowds of pilgrims visit the Sabarimala shrine on New Year’s Day.
Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak temple also witnessed a huge number of devotees visiting the temple to seek Bappa’s blessings. Hindus believe that before commencing any good work, one must seek Bappa’s blessings, and hence many people visited the temple on January 1. People were seen carrying flowers and sweets for Lord Ganesha. The security in and around the temple made sure that the process of darshan remained smooth.
Numerous worshippers flocked to different “shakti peeths” and temples in Himachal Pradesh on Monday, hoping to obtain the gods’ blessings for the year. Numerous devotees were observed visiting well-known temples for “darshan” in various regions of the state, such as Baba Balak Nath temple, Maa Taradevi, Bala Sundari, Shri Naina Devi, Baba Chamunda, Chintpurni, and Brajeshwari.
Amritsar’s Gurudwara Too Saw Many Devotees
At the well-known Mahavir Mandir at Patna Junction, over two lakh devotees came to see the priests perform a unique ‘aarti’. At 5.15am, the temple’s doors were flung open. For the occasion, the temple was decked out with vibrant flowers and fairy lights. In order to allow the public to watch the prayer service, two LED screens were also installed.
On New Year’s Day, a sizable contingent of worshippers—including politicians—came to the Golden Temple to offer prayers. These devotees came from both India and outside. Devotees braved the cold and thick fog to gather at the sanctum sanctorum. Here they offered prayers and took a sacred dip in the nectar pool early in the morning.
Jammu, Katra’s Vaishno Devi temple already recorded the highest number of pilgrims right before new year. the number was the highest in the last 6 decades. On new year more than one kilometre long queue of devotees was seen.
