You must have heard or even experienced first hand that northeast is the safest place for women in the country. Cases of rape and molestation are unheard of in the seven sisters. Did you that the locals Meghalaya of Meghalaya believed in a matrilineal system, where women rule? Setting the example once again, a group of residents in Nagaland’s Dimapur have come together to offer free lifts to women in need of transportation at night. They are doing it as a part of a campaign to make India rape-free.

The Campaign Started As A Social Media Post

What started as a social media post has now become a campaign in Nagaland’sNagaland’s Dimapur. A Dimapur resident Aneiba Thou’sThou’s offered to pick up and drop anyone facing difficulties at night on his Facebook post. Many shared the post across social media platforms, and soon, many others from the town came up with similar posts offering help. Here are 7 Safest Places For Female Solo Travellers In India.

The Post That Triggered The Change

Thou wrote in his post: “Any persons, elders, younger sister or a lady facing problems in transportation at night or any problems or not feeling safe at nearby areas, I am ready to help, so call or SOS me anytime 24×7. Just call and say I need your help, I’llI’ll be there. We believe, together we can bring the change, and we will change this. Many Have Join Hands To Make The City Safe For Women

It has become like a chain now. Many in Dimapur have posted saying that they are willing to help anywhere, anytime. The campaign aims to make the city safe for women. While the government does its bit, citizens need to raise their voice and help in every way possible. There will never be enough cops to patrol every part of the country, but if we join our hands, change is not far away.
