What Is Assam’s Gold Tea?
On this visit to Indonesia, PM Modi gifted Assam’s iconic Manohari Gold Tea to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. Through this gesture, he showcased Assam’s culture and famous products on a global stage. This tea is considered one of the rarest varieties in the world.
The tea comes from the Manohari Tea Estate in Assam. What makes it so exclusive is that it is made from tender tea buds rather than leaves. Tea workers carefully pick the buds by hand, roll them, and let them dry naturally in the sun during June’s second flush season. This process gives the tea its beautiful golden colour. As per Ommcom News, it is also extremely rare, as only about 25 grams of Manohari Gold Tea is produced every day.

What Else Did PM Modi Gift?
The other gift PM Narendra Modi presented to Indonesian President Prabowo was an Uttarakhand Aipan artwork. This artwork is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a traditional folk art form from the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. Women have been making this art for many years, using rice paste to create beautiful white patterns on a red-coloured base.
Another gift was a traditional Kashmiri Papier-Mache bowl decorated with hand-painted floral and bird motifs. These bowls are made from processed paper pulp and decorated using the traditional Naqashi technique. The Prime Minister also presented a handcrafted Repousse silver decorative plate to President Prabowo.
