Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport) has soared to new heights, clinching the prestigious title of “Best Regional Airport in India and South Asia” at the esteemed 2024 Skytrax World Airport Awards. This recognition, based on extensive passenger satisfaction surveys, solidifies BLR Airport’s dedication to exceptional customer service.

Double Triumph

Adding to the accolades, BLR Airport’s magnificent Terminal 2 secured the coveted second place for “World’s Best New Airport Terminal.” This award acknowledges excellence in airport facilities and staff services. It also commends the overall passenger experience for terminals opened within the past 18 months.

Since its grand opening in 2023, Terminal 2 has also garnered a UNESCO Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Airport award along with a Special Prize for its breathtaking interiors, LEED platinum certification, and more.

The Skytrax ceremony, held on 17th April 2024 at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Frankfurt, Germany, brought together industry leaders from across the globe.

World-Class Facilities Recognized

BLR Airport secured this prestigious title after undergoing rigorous evaluations encompassing various aspects crucial to the passenger journey. It includes check-in procedures, arrivals, transfers, shopping facilities, security, immigration processes, and gate departures.

BLR Airport had a strong performance in 2023, exceeding 37 million passengers and 422,000 tonnes of cargo. The airport crossed a milestone of 300 million total passengers served since it opened. BLR Airport is also the leading airport in India for handling perishable cargo for the third year in a row. The new Terminal 2 opened in January 2023 with a focus on technology, sustainability, and showcasing the culture of Karnataka.
